Most visitors head to Lake Bled to see an old castle on an island, but I took the advice of a hostel clerk who recommended Lake Bohinj instead. No castles or islands, just forests and mountains. The weather was cloudy and sometimes chilly, but it didn't really matter. Biked around for hours, then finished off with a bracing dip in the lake. The evening's entertainment was almost as bracing.
