Three months already in Turkey, and it still feels like I'm just getting started. The goal hasn't been sightseeing as much as it's been settling down. Got a good job in Istanbul teaching Business English to corporate managers, and I'm defying conventional expat wisdom by living happily in Kadikoy, located on the Asian side of the Bosphorus Strait. The commutes are long and soul-crushing when the bus gets stuck in Istanbul's molasses-like traffic. But the ferry rides are sublime, especially when you sit outside on the upper deck and catch a glimpse of dolphins pogo dancing in the Marmara Sea.
