May 1, 2010 | Mekong Delta | Phu Quoc

Spent a couple of days with Sarah and Boonma touring the Mekong Delta. The humidity was merciless, like an endless prelude to a colossal thunderstorm. Yet the Vietnamese wear long pants, long sleeves, hats, and face masks to protect against the browning effects of the sun. I poured sweat just looking at them. S&B headed back to HCMC, and I beached myself on Phu Quoc Island with five other travelers who were taking the same ferry. Rapport was instant and easygoing; four days later everyone was off in a new direction. Cheers to Sofia, Steve, Justin, Jasmine, and Sara.
